About iLovePDF
iLovePDF provides APIs for processing, converting, optimizing, and signing PDF and image files.
Describe what should happen in iLovePDF, and when, in plain words. Whenever builds the workflow and runs it on a schedule, on a webhook, or when another app sends an event.
Connection requirements, provider permissions and optional AI usage apply. Read the runtime limits.

Through its API, using the credentials and permissions required by the provider.
Connect Claude, Cursor or Codex to the Whenever MCP server and your coding agent can build and deploy the iLovePDF workflow. It runs on Whenever afterwards, on its schedule or webhook, with the chat closed.
Set up the Whenever MCP serverThe iLovePDF developer API, sold as iLoveAPI, exposes the same tools as the website: compress, merge, split, convert Office files to PDF, PDF to JPG, images to PDF, page numbers, watermarks, rotation, repair, PDF/A, OCR, protect and unlock. The work is useful when documents arrive in a steady stream and someone currently drags each file through the browser by hand: scanned invoices that need OCR before filing, contract bundles that must become one PDF, or exports too large for an email attachment.
Every job follows the same four calls: start a task for a named tool, upload one or more files to it, process with the tool options, then download the result. Authentication uses the public and secret keys of a developer project. Keep that sequence in mind when writing a brief: a merge needs every file uploaded to the same task before processing, and the file order you supply is the page order you get back. iLoveAPI also caps how many tasks can be open at once, so a large batch should process each task before opening the next.
Usage is counted against the file allowance of your developer project, so check the iLoveAPI pricing page before planning a high-volume job. A sensible brief names the source folder or mailbox, the tool and its settings (compression level, OCR language, watermark text), and the destination. Keep the original file alongside the processed copy until you have checked a few outputs; a heavy compression level can make small text in a scan hard to read.
The signature product is a separate part of the same API with its own requests for creating signature jobs and tracking signer status. Treat it as its own design: who signs, in which order, and where the signed file should land. Because processing happens on iLovePDF servers, files you would not upload to a third party should not go through this route at all.
Authored starter briefs to configure with your accounts, not preconfigured workflows.
Make scans searchable before they reach the accounting folder, keeping the original next to the processed copy.
Shrink oversized PDFs that arrive by email so they can be forwarded or stored without bouncing.
Combine the separate PDF reports a team drops into one folder into a single ordered pack.
No. API access runs through a developer project on the iLoveAPI site with its own keys and credit balance. A website subscription does not by itself give you API keys.
iLoveAPI is task based: start a task for one tool, upload every file to it, process once, then download. All files that should end up together must be uploaded to the same task.
The API reference lists the PDF tools (compress, merge, split, Office to PDF, PDF to JPG, image to PDF, OCR, watermark, page numbers, rotate, repair, PDF/A, protect, unlock and more), separate image tools such as resize and crop, and the signature service.
The API reference says tasks and their files are deleted automatically a short time after processing, and a task can be deleted immediately with a DELETE request. Download and store the result yourself; do not treat the task as storage.
Yes, if the password is supplied for that file when processing, or by running the unlock tool first. Without the correct password the task cannot complete for that file.
