About AccuWeather
AccuWeather provides global current conditions, forecasts, alerts, MinuteCast precipitation forecasts, and lightning data.
Describe what should happen in AccuWeather, and when, in plain words. Whenever builds the workflow and runs it on a schedule, on a webhook, or when another app sends an event.
Connection requirements, provider permissions and optional AI usage apply. Read the runtime limits.
AccuWeather provides global current conditions, forecasts, alerts, MinuteCast precipitation forecasts, and lightning data.
Through its API, using the credentials and permissions required by the provider.
Connect Claude, Cursor or Codex to the Whenever MCP server and your coding agent can build and deploy the AccuWeather workflow. It runs on Whenever afterwards, on its schedule or webhook, with the chat closed.
Set up the Whenever MCP serverMost AccuWeather automations answer a narrow operational question: will it rain on tomorrow’s outdoor shift, is there an active alert near a warehouse, should a delivery window move? The Core Weather API is organised around that kind of question. It returns current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts, weather alerts and lifestyle indices for a place, and the separate MinuteCast and Lightning APIs cover minute-by-minute precipitation and lightning activity where your plan includes them.
The first thing people trip over is that forecasts are not requested by city name. AccuWeather’s quick-start has you call the Locations API first, searching by text, postal code or coordinates, and get back a location key. Every forecast and current-conditions request then uses that key. A sensible workflow resolves keys once, stores them next to each site in your own list, and reuses them, rather than repeating the search every morning. That also keeps the number of calls down, which matters because requests count against the call allowance of your developer package.
Decide what the workflow should do with the numbers before asking for them. A daily forecast response includes high and low temperatures, day and night descriptions and precipitation probability. A rule such as “precipitation probability above 60 percent between 07:00 and 15:00” can be written as a fixed comparison, so the same forecast always produces the same decision. If you want a friendly paragraph for a crew chat, an AI step can write it from those values, but the go or no-go call should come from the rule, not from the wording.
Weather data changes through the day, and a schedule only sees the forecast at the moment it runs. A 05:30 check will not know about a storm cell that forms at 10:00. For anything time-critical, run more often on the days that matter, or check alerts close to the decision point. Keep the forecast values you acted on in the message or log so someone can later see why a shift was moved, and so the next person can tune the threshold instead of guessing.
Authored starter briefs to configure with your accounts, not preconfigured workflows.
A fixed precipitation threshold decides whether each site gets a heads-up, so the result does not depend on how a summary is phrased.
Keeps the Locations API lookup out of the daily forecast run by caching each key once.
Pulls the 5-day forecast for one venue and lets AI write a short brief from the returned values only.
Forecast and current-conditions endpoints are keyed by AccuWeather location keys. You get a key from the Locations API by searching text, a postal code or coordinates, then reuse it for later forecast calls.
Yes. Each request counts toward the allowance of your AccuWeather developer package, and a scheduled run makes its calls whether or not the weather changed. Caching location keys and checking only the sites you need keeps usage down.
AccuWeather documents MinuteCast and Lightning as separate APIs from Core Weather. Whether your key can call them depends on the package you subscribe to, so check your developer account before building on them.
It is whatever AccuWeather returned when the run made its request. A later forecast update will not be seen until the next run, so schedule checks close to the decision they inform.
